What is CTR

Definition: CTR, or Click-Through-Rate, is a metric used to measure the effectiveness of an online advertisement or other online content. It is represented as a percentage calculated by dividing the number of clicks on the advertisement by the number of impressions (views) it received.

A high CTR generally indicates that the ad or email is well-targeted and resonates with its intended audience.

By analyzing the CTR, you can gain insights into the performance of your campaigns, including how well your ads resonate with your target audience, how effective your targeting is, and how successful your creative is. Additionally, it can help you identify areas for improvement and inform future campaigns.

CTR formula

The CTR Formula is expressed as a percentage and is calculated by dividing the number of clicks by the number of impressions (views):

CTR = (number of clicks / number of impressions) x 100%

  • Number of clicks: The total number of clicks on a specific link or CTA.
  • Number of impressions: The total number of times the link or CTA was viewed.

For example, if an ad was viewed 1,000 times and received 500 clicks, the CTR is: (500 / 1,000) x 100% = 50%.

What is a good CTR

A "good" click-through rate (CTR) varies depending on the industry, the type of advertisement, and where it was placed.
